Could you run a children’s club during the summer holidays? Get in touch!

We’re looking for people to run activity clubs for children during the school holidays. In return, we can offer grants to cover the cost for the activities.

The Holiday Activities and Food programme is aimed tackling so-called ‘unhealthy holidays’ by improving children’s physical health and nutrition during the school break.

We want to work with local people and groups to host free activities for school-age children, with funding available to sponsor sessions.

Activities should be aimed at school-age children who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals.

Each activity must offer fun and enriching activities that offer children the chance to learn and develop. Activity providers should also offer food as part of the programme.

The Department for Education’s Holiday Activities and Food programme is being rolled out across England with providers being invited to apply for funding to host activities for disadvantaged children.

Local organisations and community champions can submit bids to North East Lincolnshire Council for funding to host activities.

Councillor Ian Lindley, portfolio holder for children, education and skills at North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “Our children have spent a lot of time stuck at home over the last year, so we’re eager to give them something to get the m out and about, learning and playing during the holidays.

“This programme should keep our kids active and ensure that they’re also getting a healthy, nutritious meal at the same time.

“We’re asking local people, organisations and community groups to come up with ideas and put bids in for funding to put on activities for our young people.

“Our officers are ready to answer any questions you might have and we want to work with providers to create some really great activities for children during these school holidays.”

Information for providers on how to apply can be found at www.nelincs.gov.uk/funding-for-haf-programmes.

Alternatively you can contact HAF Coordinator, Wendy Jackson, via email on wendy.jackson@nelincs.gov.uk.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Saturday 17 July 2021.
