EU nationals in North East Lincolnshire urged to apply for residency before June deadline

EU nationals living in North East Lincolnshire are being urged to complete an application to the EU Settlement Scheme before the June 2021 deadline.

If you’re an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen, you and your family can apply to the EU Settlement Scheme to continue living in the UK after 30 June 2021. You can also apply if you’re the family member of an eligible person of Northern Ireland.

If your application is successful, you’ll get either settled or pre-settled status.

You may be able to stay in the UK without applying - for example, if you’re an Irish citizen or already have indefinite leave to remain.

A Council spokesperson said: “Local residents from EU countries need to submit an application before 30 June 2021 to apply for settled or pre-settled status.

“We have some incredibly talented Europeans living in our area who have made North East Lincolnshire their home and become part of the fabric of our communities.

“As the UK’s relationship with the EU changes, EU nationals will have to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme to secure their residency here. It’s very important that people don’t put this off.”

The EU Settlement Scheme is open now and free to apply to. You must have started living in the UK by 31 December 2020.

To apply, visit www.GOV.UK.

Local support with making an application is available from info@mycpo.co.uk or Citizens Advice - info@advicenel.org.uk.
