Festive fun and activities back on the menu this Christmas time

A fun-filled programme of events and activities has been put together to give youngsters in our area an opportunity to get out and keep active during the Christmas break.

As part of the Government’s Holiday Activities and Food scheme, organisations in North East Lincolnshire have been given funding to offer activities and a free meal to school-age children.

The activities are open to all children in our area aged 5 to 16, and are free to those who qualify for free school meals.

Children who get free school meals need to get a code from their school that they must then show to the activity organiser.

Councillor Ian Lindley, portfolio holder for children, education and skills at North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “Children have had a lot of disruption to their school and home life during the pandemic, so we want them to really get out and enjoy themselves over the Christmas break.

“These activities will give them an opportunity to take part in things they may never have done before, and they’ll get a healthy, nutritious meal too.”
