Get your nomination in for the Mayor’s Civic Awards!

The countdown is on to vote in the Mayor’s 2021 Civic Awards.

Celebrating the best there is in North East Lincolnshire – the Civic Awards aim to shine a light on those who are truly making a difference.

There are nine award categories which focus on the community, the environment, sport, and business. The stars of tomorrow are also highlighted, with categories especially for young people.

His Worshipful the Mayor of the Borough Councillor David Hasthorpe said: “I am proud of North East Lincolnshire and its people, from our businesses to our young people, our entrepreneurs and our voluntary and community organisations.

“These awards are all about highlighting the positive and celebrating the good in our fantastic borough, so get your votes in today to shine a light on an individual, community group or organisation that’s making a real difference.”

Cllr Hasthorpe added: “I’m particularly keen to hear about our incredible youngsters and would love for people to send their nominations in to highlight them in the ‘young’ categories.”

The headline sponsor is renewables firm myenergi.

The awards: will be running for nominations until 31 January 2022, with a ceremony to reveal the winners in March 2022.

Community Together Award. For individuals, community groups or organisations involved in bringing communities together through a local project or community event or who have excelled within their communities. The winner will have demonstrated how they have used others’ potential and strength to help people help themselves and others. Sponsor: Grimsby Fish Merchants Association.

Creative Excellence Award. For those who have helped raise the profile of arts in the borough, helping to make things happen and giving our communities the chance to express themselves creatively. Sponsor: Healing Manor.

Sporting Achievement Award. For a person, group or organisation that has helped create a lasting sporting legacy, encouraged participation, and promoted sport. Sponsor: the Humberside Police & Crime Commissioner.

Youth Sporting Achievement Award: The winner will be a young individual or youth-led community group or organisation that is helping to create a lasting sporting legacy. Sponsor: Forrester Boyd Wealth Management.

Environmental Achievement Award: For an individual or group that has worked to celebrate, improve, and protect the environment in which they live and who voluntarily strive to improve the outdoor environment for their communities. Sponsor: Dalkia Wastenergy.

Youth Environmental Achievement Award: For an individual under 21, or a youth-led community group or organisation that has worked to protect our local environment, striving to enhance our local outdoor spaces. Sponsor: Dalkia Wastenergy

Young Achiever Award: To celebrate an inspirational person, under 21, who has made an outstanding contribution by volunteering with the community – demonstrating leadership, dedication, and enthusiasm. Sponsor: YMCA Humber.

Business in the Community Award: This award recognises the businesses that have invested in North East Lincolnshire’s communities through sponsorship or other forms of support to make it a better place to work, play and stay. Sponsor: E Factor Group Ltd.

Healthy Living Award: For an individual or community group that has improved the health and wellbeing of people or communities in North East Lincolnshire, be it physical, mental, emotional, or social. Sponsor: Ish Fish.

The Mayor’s Award for Outstanding Achievement: Specially selected by the Mayor and not open for public nomination, this will celebrate someone for their outstanding contribution and dedication to the borough. Sponsor: JemBuild.
