A report published earlier this month has lifted the curtain on joint efforts to keep our communities safer in North East Lincolnshire.
The Annual Report, published by the Community Safety Partnership, explores all the ways that the partnership – including North East Lincolnshire Council, Humberside Police, Yorkshire and Humber Integrated Care Board, Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust, Humberside Fire and Rescue Service, the Probation Service and other major organisations – are working with local residents to fight crime and anti-social behaviour.
In November last year, according to the report, a knife amnesty held across the Humber region saw between 800 and 1,000 knives handed in during a week-long knife amnesty.
The report also highlights the work of some 60 Prevent Champions in our area – ordinary people who act as a link between their organisations and authorities to share information and training. The aim is to protect vulnerable people from radicalisation.
Councillor Ron Shepherd, portfolio holder for safer and stronger communities at North East Lincolnshire Council, said:
“The work of the Community Safety Partnership over the last year has been incredible successful. We have seen an 18.2% reduction in recorded cases of anti-social behaviour equating to some 618 fewer victims.
“This just demonstrates the impact we can have when all of the local agencies and authorities work together with our communities. We’ve been actively going out, meeting with our residents and fostering the creation of neighbourhood groups to improve communication and cohesion.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved in pulling together this report, our partners and the residents who have supported our work in the last year.”
Chief Superintendent Matt Peach, Divisional Commander, said:
“Working together as the North East Lincolnshire Community Safety Partnership we aim to build strong communities where people are kept safe from crime and disorder, and our most vulnerable residents are supported and protected.
“The Annual Report illustrates how much can be achieved by focusing our joint efforts on the things that matter the most to local people.
“Our partnership arrangements are robust and we are all committed to making sure people feel safe and we continue to make improvements for the community.”
