Winsby Community Lottery celebrates a £250 win!

The local lottery is run by Gatherwell, and is designed to help local voluntary and community groups to diversify their fundraising streams and enable year-round fundraising in a safe, fun and effective way. Buy a ‘chance’ and support the local community today by playing the lottery.

There are nearly 30 local causes already registered with the Winsby Community Lottery, with 60p from every £1 ticket played going to local charities and good causes.

There are weekly cash prizes to be won up to the value of the £25,000 jackpot and with 50:1 odds of winning a prize you’ll find a bit of fun at the same time as knowing you’re really helping your local community.

Cllr Stan Shreeve, Cabinet member for finance, said: “Congratulations to our first £250 winner! We launched the lottery to our local good causes earlier this year and it’s great that we’ve already had plenty of good causes and players join in. This is open and free to all good causes and charities in the borough and takes just a few minutes to sign up.

“Lottery players can choose which charity organisation to support, and can even donate their winnings to the charity if they want to.”

I’ll be sharing some of my winnings with my chosen Charity, Friendship at Home, which is very close to my heart, and do wonderful work helping to keep lonely and isolated people in the local area entertained. The charity has worked hard over the last 18 months to keep in touch with people over zoom, doing things like choir sessions and even exercise classes, as well as providing jigsaws and books to those who haven’t got computer access. It’s great to be able to help out.”
